Hermione was bored out of her mind. She had been writing the longest, most boring English paper in the history of English papers. Her teacher, Miss Blakely, a sour-looking woman who seemed to permanently bear an expression similar to one sucking a toffee made of acid. This teacher also couldn’t stand the sight of Hermione. She thought of Hermione as an oversmart upstart because she had a habit of answering every question in class. Now this was perfectly normal, until one day a student named Amanda commented that she answered questions better than her teacher. Ever since that day Miss Blakely seemed to take enjoyment in making Hermione’s life as miserable as possible. The worst insult had been today. Everybody had been buzzing about how today’s English paper was supposed to be only 7 pages long and very easy. Miss Blakely, sneering, had handed Hermione a 12 page long paper, and insisted that Hermione write it, because of her “superior talent”. This made Hermione’s blood boil, because she had to write almost double of what the others had to write within the same time period. It was so unfair. Hermione was about halfway through, and her hand felt completely numb, and her wrist was howling in protest. It wasn’t fair to make a 10 – year – old girl write a twelve page long paper. Hermione doggedly continued to write, but at the last five questions her hand was shaking so badly she had no choice but to stop. “Darn you, Miss Blakely! Darn you!” Hermione thought furiously to herself. Suddenly, a strange tingling sensation spread out across the hand that was holding her pen. Suddenly, words began to write themselves, even though Hermione’s hand was perfectly still! Hermione watched in wonder as perfectly formed words in her own handwriting answered all the remaining five questions at once. She couldn’t believe what was happening. Each word was so perfectly formed and spelled that it looked like she had written it herself, answering each question perfectly and precisely. The ink was the same colour of her pen’s as well. Even though Hermione didn’t know what the magic was and how she had been able to wield it, she knew one thing instinctively; it was good magic.

Stay tuned in for a sequel!
